USG Officers 2010-2011

The Oathtaking Ceremony for the new University Student Government (USG) officers was held last March 17, 2010 at the Office of Student Affairs (OSA) Conference Room led by Ms. Aleli C. Garcia, OSA Coordinator. The following students were elected as the new USG Officers for School Year 2010-2011:

Job Seeking Skills Seminar

The Guidance and Counseling Office organized a Job Seeking Skills Seminar last March 2, 2010 at the University Auditorium designed to train the graduating students regarding their self-evaluation, job search, grooming, job interview and resumé writing. A total of 135 graduating students attended in this activity.

FSO Tour

The Foreign Student Organization (FSO) held its first historic and cultural tour last March 10, 2010 under the supervision of the Office of Student Affairs (OSA). Twelve foreign students with OSA personnel went to Nayong Filipino and Paradise Ranch at Clark Field, Pampanga. The students enjoyed seeing depictions of pre-colonial and colonial motif conditions of the Filipinos that were featured by Nayong Filipino particularly including replicas of the Ifugao Rice Terraces, Ifugao Village, Aeta Village, Maranao Torogan House, Barasoain Church, and the houses of Dr. Jose Rizal, Emilio Aguinaldo and Apolinario Mabini. The visit to Paradise Ranch, a newly constructed Eco-Tourism Park, was also greatly appreciated by the group.

Graduating Students’ Retreat

The 2010 Spiritual Retreat, an annual event sponsored by the University Chaplaincy Committee for College graduating students was held last March 19, 2010 at the Colossian Garden in Tagaytay City. A total of 620 students and 20 faculty members from both Manila and Dasmariñas campuses attended the retreat. The purpose of this activity was to renew the Spirit of each student before they would leave the portals of the school and enter the real world. Retreat facilitators were Pastor Julbert de Leon and Pastor Phoebe Dakanay who spoke on the subject “Purity Code” i.e. keeping the body pure for the Lord; turning the eyes away from worthless things; fixing the mind on everything that is good and acceptable in the eyes of the Lord, encapsulated in the biblical principle, whatsoever is good, pure, lovely, of good report...”; and guarding the heart above all else for out of it springs the wellness of life. Dr. Revelino Garcia, Director of the Accreditation and Instruction Office (AIO), evaluated the activity for which the result indicated that the students felt spiritually renewed and enjoyed the food.

Job Fair 2010

The 2010 Job Fair organized by the Guidance and Counseling Office was held last March 11, 2010 at the University Auditorium. The purpose of the activity was to increase the chance of the graduating students to find job soon after graduation and also to provide them information regarding different companies. A total of 128 graduating students from the five colleges attended the said event. About seventeen companies participated namely: 3i International, Aisis International, Asia Pacific Brady Corporation, Bench, Concentrix, Consult Asia, Convergys, Dell Petrosystems, EPLDTVentus, KGB, NCO, Philcopy, Primesoft, Santienz, Service Filipino, Sitel and Sykes Asia.

Chaplaincy Committee Planning

Last April 12-13, 2010, a two-day annual retreat, evaluation and planning activity was held at Villa Navarro 2 in Pansol, Laguna. All members of the Chaplaincy Committee including the Coordinator, Prof. Portia Salva and Dr. Greg Melchor C. de Lara, the Committee Chair, attended this event. The purpose of the activity was to spell-out the theme and objectives of the Chaplaincy for SY 2010-2011 program. “A Future With Hope: Living the Year of the Lord’s Favor” will be the school year’s theme. The objectives are: to enlighten the PCU community on the realities of the Lord’s favor in their life; to enhance the PCU community’s faith experience; and to enable the members of the PCU community to exhibit God favored lives.
